![]() The difficulty is perfect IMO but if you want to you activate an option called "god mode" which makes the game a little easier for you if you're having a tough time. The game is also very story driven which is not common for rogue like games like Binding of Isaac or Risk of Rain for example. Everything feels so well crafted and heavily thought-out that sometimes I forget I'm playing a rogue-like game. It doesn't feel as RNG based as other games and the balance is insane. ![]() I just can't stop playing it.Ībout the rogue-like thing you mentioned:ĭespite being a rogue-like game in essence, it's still very different than other games in the genre. I've reached around 150 hours on it yesterday and I'm still amazed at how balanced and fun the gameplay is and I'm still unlocking things and discovering new story pieces and dialogues. The art, music, scripts and voice acting have always been perfect in all the games but the gameplay in Hades is just insane. Holy shit they really outdid themselves with this one. I LOVE all the games by Supergiant so much but man, Hades is just too fucking good. Jen Zee does the character and world design for all the games so if you like the art in 1 game, while style changes it still is though that lens. Transistor had a more intriguing story line, however Bastion had better game play and was more fun over all. I think that's my favorite thing about it is every run is different because of boons, weapons and companions. Played both, preferred Bastion far above Transistor. If you're really into builds this is the game for you. They give out sorry at a great pace so even dying isn't that frustrating. ![]() Hades is the closest to a straight up RPG than any other supergiant game. Hades: I've never played a roguelike and honestly I don't think I'd like the normal variety since I don't often want to really challenge myself in terms of gameplay. Transistor has a really interesting combat system whereas bastion's is very simple, but having played Bastion through five or so times and only having played Transistor once (with no desire to play it again) I would say that Bastion's story and characters are a lot more compelling than Transistor's, and if you haven't read any spoilers for Basti. Transistor: is my favorite story and music and I really dig the way you could mix and match every function (ability) into different formats and it rewards you still for doing that by giving you more background about the world and characters. Never played Bastion (will rectify that soon) but Transistor is one of my favourite games of all time (no hyperbole), when these titles got announced for Switch I actually did a real life fist pump lol. The rifle with the sweet spot timing is so satisfying to shoot. As its own game, it tells a tightly controlled story with an experimental battle system. Cant wait to play it with a proper controller. ![]() It rewards you for trying new weapons and stuff as well as having flexible difficulty. In comparison to Bastion, Transistor feels rigid. It does have all the gameplay bells and whistles of the others though. So much depends on what you are looking for:īastion: more striped down with mechanics and story. ![]()
